Yes, it can cause it. If you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), reflux happens with just about anything you eat/drink. It happens, because the sphincter (valve) that blocks food from reentering your esophagus after eating is not functioning properly. Go see a gastroenterologist, but in the meantime, you can buy Zantac over-the-counter at Wal-Mart or a local drugstore in order to get some relief. Also, try eating and drinking smaller amounts more frequently throughout the day and your stomach will not tend to be as full and hopefully the reflux will then be minimal.

People say that water is good for you, it is, but make sure you're drinking the right water. If from a tap, make sure it's filtered. I'm with you on the acid attacks. Ive had an ulcer for a very very long time, and anything can flare it up. Sometimes milk helps, other times not. Mostly, bread, plain white, dry bread will soak up the acid in the stomach.
I went to a doctor a long time ago & he gave me some medication that works in seconds. If it is really bothering you, see a doctor. Don't let it go too long, it can harm your insides really bad.
Take care.

Yes. Drinking just water can provoke an acid reflux episode because it happens to me all of the time. My stomach produces so much acid that it does not matter what I drink. I still have acid reflux.

Yes it can. Almost anything can start the stomach acting up if you suffer from acid reflux. See your Dr. about some meds if you are bothered by heartburn more than 2 times a week. There are several on the market that will stop it completely. Protonix, Nexium, Prilosec(OTC) and others. If left untreated it will get progressively worse and could result in an ulcer or erosion of esophagas or stomach damage.

when i was pregnant, the doctor told me something about the amount of water in your stomache and the process of creating acid to break down food. i don't remember how he said it, but basicly, yes. water can cause acid reflux. i had to take tums until the problem went away.

Don't put rice cereal in a bottle. If you want to give rice cereal it should only be given by spoon. Cereal no matter how much, is still a choking hazard if given in a bottle and it doesn't help the GERD that way. My doctor gave us randitine (zantac) for our baby'a GERD. Perhaps you should ask your doctor to try that. It doesn't taste very good but it works for us. After you feed your baby keep him upright for at least 20 minutes and don't play with him for at least an hour. The movement will make them throw up. Good luck.

I have acid reflux too and no that is not provoking them. Water is very good for you so keep drinking it. Unfortunately you cannot stop acid reflux.

Yes, it can provoke it. I have it also and drinking too much can do that to me, too.
