I exercise daily for at least 1 hour, but sometimes I want to do more. Are there benefits to doing situps, pushups, etc during commercials or is that pretty pointless?

every little bit helps. besides between the average show there's usually at least 3-5 minutes of commercials. if there are 5 breaks during your show there's 25 minutes of extra exercise.

Every little bit helps. But as you are already exercising an hour a day, I would go for exercises slightly different than those already included in your daily routine. Why not practice more intense stretches, tai chi or yoga poses. This has also the advantage of quieting the mind and avoiding adrenalin or endorphin release in your body at too late an hour (as it is not recommanded to make physical effort after 5, at least not if you intend to have a good night sleep). Plus it would help you gain a positive body image and accept the real you with its good points and its flaws.

1 hour a day is enough.
a person could do sit ups or some quick thing during the breaks and it would be of use but you are already doing more then enough . i dont know what your intent is but exersize that is done in the hope of making bigger muscles requires the person to not go at it every day instead have it every other or better still 4 on two off .
for wieght loss or cardio lung heart improvment then some every day is ok the secret to exersize is to learn moderation. and
keep at it .
dont be like a seed planted springs up so fast that the roots dont take hold and it tips over and dies.
be like the oak tree grows slow and become tall and sturdy.harder then nails.

Same as at any other time. I had a friend that got in shape just by doing sit ups and push ups during every commercial

You don't necessarily have to do push ups or sit ups but it IS good to get up and move around periodically to keep the blood circulation.
Being too sedentary can cause circulation problems and possible nerve damage. Also stiffness in the joints.
Drink plenty of QUALITY WATER. i.e. spring water, distilled water, well water...
Eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and a periodic colon cleanse.
Exercise is goo, is but there's a WHOLE LOT MORE to it.
I hope the more knowledgeable ones will read and answer this question.

It especially helps when you run out of the room during the ice cream and cookie commercials. Every little bit helps but don't get obsessed.

bypass to the bathing room. Get something to consume. bypass on line. Or as somebody else pronounced, I prepare myself to take a shower as quickly with the aid of fact the subsequent commercial spoil starts off, so i could be in & out in the previous the teach resumes.

Live your present moment. Don't be too obsessed in exercising. You already had 1 hour work out, that's enough. Enjoy life!
