There are way better ways of being compensated than with money. Satisfaction of a job well done, seeing a girl reach her potential. Giving a girl the tools she will need in life to be a leader in her community, teaching her to be a life long learner/explorer and contributor to her community. No, no money, but lots and lots of rewards.

Well, yes and no. How's that for an answer?

Scout leaders ARE compensated. Generally it's not financial compensation, but the type that comes with helping shape the character of a young man or woman into a wholesome, caring, and informed citizen capable of making appropriate and ethical choices throughout their lives.

However, I have met Scout leaders that are PAID to be leaders. I'm in the Boy Scouts and know of 1 city where the Chief of Police has hired 8 of his force to become Scoutmasters in the inner city in an effort to develop the scouting program and give young men an alternative to gangs and violence. I know that there are some programs within the BSA that allows for a paid professional scouter to operate a unit, then after time will turn it over to the volunteers.

As a rule, and this should never be changed, Adult Leaders of any Scouting organization should not be paid monetarily, we get enough satisfaction from the work we do.

They do not get payed, dues payed by scouts is used to buy supplies, many being donated by company's in the area. Scout leaders are compensated in a very big way. Seeing young people get along and work as a team, also learning new things and to be good citizens.

Monetary compensation, as in a job? No, scout troop leaders (boy and girl) are voluntary.
You can, however, take off the mileage on your vehicle, supplies you purchase with your own money, and some amount for your time on your tax return. Talk to your accountant for more details and keep good mileage records. Usually, any time you do volunteer work, you can deduct mileage and expenses.

My daughter was a girl scout leader for 10 years and never got compensated. It is a volunteer job and it was a job, but she loved all the girls that came through her troop. When she didn't love it anymore than she quit. I hope that it remains that way.

I was a scout leader back in the 80s and did not get paid. I think all the scout leading positions are voluntary.

If your meaning compensated as in payment of somekind no not at all. You are volunteering. As far as for supplies and stuff you use the girlscout dues for that and in some cases can ask parents if they want to donate more.
