We all watch these T.V. shows everyonce and a while about new weapons, or the show futureweapons that are being developed and are developed by the military.

If everyone runs around saying the new superbomb is the most advanced and best bomb on earth, why arent we using it? How come we are using human beings instead of advanced robots?

Whats your opinion?

Because no matter what, there is one weapon system that is more advanced, versatile, effective and crucial than any other ever devised. The soldier.

You might have the most advanced planes, bombs, missiles or tanks in the world, but no matter what you need boots on the ground to do the job. A soldier will always have a better situational awareness than what can be provided with various sensors mounted on a robot.

Just like you can't hold ground with a bomb or a plane. You need some poor sucker dug in or in a watch tower to do that. Just like a newfangled missile can't do room clearance in tight urban quarters. So while there are technologies out there that make the individual soldier's life easier and safer, as well as more combat-effective, the human element is a must-have.

And advanced technologies are expensive. Make no mistakes.

Because technology hasn't advanced that far yet. When it does, rest assured, there will be robots on the battlefield. Remember too that money is the real driving force in whether or not weapons systems get developed and deployed in battle. Look what happened to Germany in WWII. While they had a jet fighter that was way better than anything we had, they didn't have the money to build and fly many of them. Look what happened to the Soviet Union in the Cold War. They had the biggest arsenal of the most powerful bomb on earth, but it cost them so much not only did they lose the war, but they lost the entire government!!

Its just a matter of time, we'll be seeing Metal Storm and all the other robots and advanced weapon systems. Like people said, its still too early to be deployed. The TV hype don't show the mistakes, near misses and problems for deployment. They do show the potential which gets everyone all excited.

HAVE YOU NOT SEEN TERMINATOR?

My god people, robots fighting wars sounds like the worst idea ever. What if there captured? Then your screwed arent you. Humans should never be replaced by robots in any aspect except if it for a disability.

Humans caused the problems so humans should solve them

This is a particularly difficult war to wage. Most wars require the physical grabbing of land, which needs manpower not robots. And, when the war is on terrorists, who wear no uniforms, and hide among citizens, a human being is needed to discern the differences.

We can't just bomb everything and robots can't do everything a human can. Robots will never replace human beings.

the US brags about how great their weapons are but their weapons usually have:
1) rigged tests
2) unproven against a modern, non-third world military

The reason why these weapons aren't used with abandon is because they have many weaknesses and would get smacked off the battlefield like that f-117 stealth that got shot down like a dog over serbia.
