Ingredients:
1.0 part Beer
1.0 part Guinness Beer

Directions: Fill stien half full with Bass. Next pour Guiness over a spoon slowly until glass is full. If done correctly the Guiness will stay on top and the Bass on bottom hence the name Black & Tan.

The popular answer is with Bass. Good beer, good choice. I make it with Smithwicks. Better beer, better choice, better tips.

Fill pint glass with half Smithwicks (or your choice of Tan beer.Use Budweiser, I don't care) If using a tap, Guinness has a built in feature that allows you to push forward on the handle pouring very slowly. If not using a tap, the ever so popular spoon method works very well. Slowly pour the Guinness over the spoon into the glass. The whole concept of is layering. If you screw it up, and you know you will be serving this drink or your having it at home and are patient, make it and let it cool in the fridge for an hour. The specific gravity of the two beers will equalize themselves and the layering effect will happen on it's own.

Cheers,

I'd also recommend trying the Guiness over Cider (apple).

Its also good over champagne.

Harps is generally the beer you'd use to make a Black and Tan.

Sprite is good if you want to pound the Guinness.

I'm assuming you do not have access to a keg of Bass and Guinness.

Hold glass at an angle and fill halfway with bass ale.

Pour Guinness over upside down spoon to disperse the flow. Let it all settle and enjoy.

Half a pint of Bass topped with half a pint of Guiness is the only way.

Traditionally it's Bass and Guiness. I prefer Harps and Guiness
