If there a free website that I can use to find out who my mom is? I just want her name right now. I`ll research other things later.

Hey Haily,

Get your Birth Certificate, it will list your Mothers name in full. You can get Vital Records from the municipality where you were born, or, for example in the USA from the State Records. The last site below is for States in the USA.

If you are talking about a birth mother, and you were raised in an adoptive family, that is a different situation.

If this is a case of adoption, then it will be harder to find that info out.

In the case of adoption, most birth certificates are changed to reflect the adoptive parents names.

There are a lot of sites out there, that can get your started on your search, but unless the records are opened, you might not find the name. Sorry.

If this is a case of the parent just gone missing, ask other relatives, check birth certificate. (Other relatives might have info on the adoption also.)

Do you know what city and state you were born in? Try looking at whatever online resources they might have... if tyou find your own birth there, your mother's name [or her name at that time] should be listed. Records might be in state, county, or city/town records. Also, contact schools you have been in... see what records they might have that will help your search. Governmen offices big and small are record-keepers... there is a paper trail somewhere.
