It doesn't sound selfish. Just your own personal choice.
I guess the only way it would be selfish, is if you led someone on to believe you would marry them "eventually", without ever planning on doing so. (Some woman would see that, as making them waste their time.)
Which, is not your case.
God bless you.

Hmmmmm, I don't know. I wouldn't consider it selfish. You just know how you feel and what you want, and if a woman can't accept that, then it would be their problem. And frankly, if it isn't someone that you are involved with, it's really none of their business!
Now if you decided that you never wanted to marry after having gone out with someone for a period of time, that's different, because they would have been thinking they were building the relationship towards marriage.

I don't see where that would be considered selfish. Unless you get someone pregnant and run off with out showing any support to the child. I don't know where they are coming from. I am sorry that I do not have the answer that you were seeking, but I don't think you are being selfish by making that decision, I say that you do what you want to make yourself happy, not everyone else!

Because they're ignorant. I also never want to get married. It means zilch to me. I also never want to have kids, and I swear, everytime I hear a man tell me I'm selfish for this reason, I want to maim him.
These women should seriously mind their own business. Marriage is all about possession, no more. And all the money you would have wasted on a stupid wedding ceremony can be saved for something more constructive. Geez, this makes me mad.

Your life is yours .. and no one elses'. You will marry whom you want to when you get ready . Its not being selfish when you arent ready to tie the knot. You are just exploring as each and everyone should do be it man or woman. You just have to find that certain special one that makes your life complete. Dont let anyone say anything to the contrary. Find that special one no matter how long it takes and let it be "till death do you part". I have faith that you will. Good luck.. Kitty.

Because the biggest gift one can give is the gift of self.
Well according to the mainstream, that is.
So when one doesn't want to "pair off" people assume that its because that person wants to indulge in a life of sex, drugs, and drunken debauchery... not because that person just doesn't want to spend their life tied to someone else's issues.
I don't disagree with you-- I'm not dying to get married, either.
But I swear to you if I hear how dissapointed my parents are b/c they'll never have grandkids, I'll tell them to adopt from a 3rd world country!!

Like others have said, it is your life. You can be happy being single. You can travel more since you won't have family committments! If that is an interest of yours...On another note, the Bible does say that a man is better off with a companion rather than being alone. Also, two heads are better than one.

Maybe they think that you're a good guy and should share your life with a woman. But to me, it's your life. If you don't want to get married, that's your decision so they don't have a right to judge wehter it's selfish.

Probably cause your a good lookin fellow who does well for himself...they want a piece of that or since they are women who aren't involved with you (maybe they'd really like to be)
In the wierd case it was your mother who said this to you...tell her to get a foster child to play granny to.
