There is no clear cut way to answer this question but i can tell you my perspective.
When you're falling in love you don't even realize it but the other person becomes a consideration in the things you do. Like when you rent a movie and you pick out a movie you'd both like just in case you get to watch it together. And then there's the excitement, like when the phone rings and your heart leaps cause it might be him/her. Once you are in love you know it because of how much you have changed because of it. It's not always big changes or bad changes but love changes people. And if it's unfortunate enough to end, you know it was true love because it never, and i mean NEVER goes away. Maybe some of the feelings, some of the excitement, some of the considerations, but it never fully goes away. If you ever gave your heart to someone then a piece of it will always belong to them.
So my definition of love... when the other person becomes a part of who you are.

You think of him a lot, you are always smiling, you dread to hear his voice when he's not around/available... You feel bad after an argument. Well, people realise how much they love that person only when they leave. Imagine he wasn't there!!! The end!

when they are all you think about. When you can picture yourself growing old with them. When they are a part of your dreams and wishes for the future. When you exhale in their arms and you kow you are right where you want to be. You just feel it. When they can do no wrong and when everything they do for you means so much. Its such a wonderful place to be...in love....oh how sweet!

you know you love someone when you don't have to ask this question. really. you are so certain that you love this person that a question like this would make you laugh at yourself for asking. there are no questions or doubt when real love is concerned.
