This is from a Canadian perspective, but I don't think things are too different in other countries. In fact, Korea used to have a ten year duration but recently changed to five. Is this all part of America's anti-terrorism changes?

I believe 5Years is long duration where lot of things change for an Individual like the place of living as such ,so its better for the authority to keep a check and update thenselve in every five years but in My country we have a 10years duration.......

Adult American passport is good for 10 years but a minor American passport is good for 5 years

5 years if your under 18 (I think) adult passports are valid for 10 years.

We can't have it both ways......

Either we're making sure we know who comes in and out of our country......or we care about spending a few bucks every few years.
