I use wee wee pads. I put my dog in a cage and when it comes out to play I make it go on a wee wee pad then I play with it. Its the best way you could buy these at your local pet store. When they get older you take the wee wee pads a way and teach them to go bathroom outside.

We successfully trained our Chihuahua Stanly to use a litterbox. We use dog litter, though, not a doggy potty pad. Purina makes SecondNature dog litter, which is what we use. They have lots of helpful information at www.doglitter.com
We tried to paper train our Chihuahua at 14 weeks, but all he did was shred the newspapers and potty pads. After 2-3 weeks of this we saw some dog litter at the pet store where we buy most of our supplies. We thought it was worth trying. And we are tremendously happy we did. It took Stanly a little over a day (about 28 hours) to litter train, he was completely accident-free within a week.
Stanly is now nearly two, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times he squatted and missed the litterbox because his little hind end hung out over the edge. And he never wets in the apartment except in his box.

Yes, it can be done. I successfully trained my Yorkshire terrier to only use doggie pads.
The first step is find an area that you can contain the dog using fencing. Cover the entire area with the pads or newspapers. Each day remove a small section of the papers so that you start narrowing the area that you want them to use. This will work very quickly. Unfortunately you do have to keep the dog contained in the area most of the time until you can get them trained. You can let them out to play, but if you sense they need to go to the bathroom get them back to their contained area quickly.
I would also reward my dog with little treats whenever she went to the bathroom on her own in the correct place. That was a big motivator for her. I had her for fourteen years and she never went to the bathroom anywhere except in her designated area.
To do this successfully you also can’t expect the dog to go outside to the bathroom. It will confuse them and they will never successfully get the idea that they have their own bathroom.
You can use a large flat plastic pan to cover with papers for the bathroom or a large cat litter box. This would make the cleanup easier for you. There have been some people who use cat litter successfully for their dogs. I liked using the papers.
If you have any further questions please let me know.

A dog doesn't like to go in the litterbox, he'd want to go out and mark the world, not a little box. It's difficult, as the dog may seemed litter trained, but then starts peeing on the floor. My friend attempted to litter train their dog. Didn't work so well.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL2MI
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I started training my small dog to go on wee wee pads but she started to expand the area. She would pee just off the pad then poo in another area of the room. I finally gave up and trained her to go outside. She seems much happier going outside. I think dogs by instinct know that they are supposed to go outside. Wee wee pads teach them that it is ok to go in the house not just on the pad but in the house.

i comprehend that this could be greater handy for you, yet your terrific guess is to coach the domestic dog to pass exterior, definite that is composed of greater artwork on your section, yet is ultimately what the canines prefers. Cats have a organic intuition to cover their waste that's why maximum cats are muddle field knowledgeable very relatively, yet a canines/puppy, it merely isn't organic. in case you will have the canines "pass" in the homestead, i might advise a potty patch because it truly is the closest part of an relatively backyard.

of course you can when I was a kid we had two dogs and lived in an apartment which didn't allow pets, my parents broke the rules and paper trained our dogs to pee or poo on the papers, it's the same training as outside you bring puppy to papers and tell them to go pee/poo etc and eventually puppy will get the idea that that's where to eliminate.
