Sweetie, first off, make sure you tell your sister that she needs to support you, not make fun of you!
The main thing that I saw in your question which drew me to answer it, is that you're only ten! I've been concerned with my weight since I was 7. I started jogging, and eating right, and I never saw any positive changes. However, I also saw no negative ones. I continued my "Self Flogging" until I was sixteen. That's 9 years of jogging, and starving, and being unhappy, as well as unhealthy! I never lost a pound. When I was sixteen, i started to see changes in the way my clothes were fitting. Then i started to notice I had less fat when I looked into the mirror. The reason I saw no results for 9 years, and then started to see amazing results overnight, all while doing the same thing...is the one word every child dreads...PUBERTY! You body may not react to diet until you have gone through puberty. Actually, many young girls are hurting themselves in vain. Now, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't start living healthier!
Eat 5-6 SMALL meals a day. I don't mean a hamburger, fries, and a Coke! I mean, an apple, or a serving of cereal. Be sure to watch how many calories you are eating with every meal. You shouldn't be eating 500 calories per meal! Between 1200-1500 calories a day is healthy. Eat LOTS of fruit and vegetables! I know...it sounds lame, but...it also works! Try eating an orange when you want chips. Even the smallest adjustments can be amazing! WATER!!! Water is So important! I can't stress it enough! I personally drink bottled water. The reason for this is that it's a lot more convenient, and I find that I'm willing to drink more if I only have to go to the fridge and grab a little water bottle then if I had to get a glass, and wait for the water to get cold, and have to wash the glass later, but that's just my opinion. Eat lots of protein, like fish, and low fat yogurt. Also, don't think that just because something says "Low Fat" on the label that it's okay to eat a lot of. Remember that calories are just as important as fat! WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN! It's boring, and it sounds dumb, but if you write everything down, then you can review it, and see what you're eating, when, and what you should change. Also, you can bring your dietary log into your doctor's office, and, together, you can put together a healthy, nutritious diet plan that only works fo YOU! Stay away form fad diets. They are fads for a reason, so they can come and go. Have you ever noticed that the only diet plan that never goes out of style is diet and exercise?!?
The last thing I can tell you is to exercise. I'm sure the first thing that comes to your mind is...BLAH! There are SO many different, FUN exercises out there! It's amazing! Jogging is the most popular, and for good reason, it's a great cardio workout(it get's your heart rate up, and when your heart rate is up, you burn calories.) However, if jogging isn't for you, then you can walk with friends(while walking, it's important to keep a good fast pace), try tennis, basketball, walk your dog, do some dancing, ride a bike, learn how to play a new sport. There are millions of fun ways to get active! The best way to lose weight is whil having fun!
Most important piece of advice you'll got from me, is don't try any of the starvation diets out there(A diet that makes you eat less then 1000 calories a day) I tried them for years, and they don't work. You end up so hungry at the end of the day, that you eat everything in sight, and end up weighing more than you did in the beginning! Also, be sure to get your family's support. They can be the difference. When you want to forget your commitment and eat that last peice of pizza, they can be the little voice in your head that tells you "no!"
Talk to your doctor before starting anything...and feel free to email me at any time if you have any questions...jennifernettlesgrl@yahoo.com
I wish you the best of luck...Godspeed! :-)

losing weight is simple.
eat a healthy breakfast every morning!
like fiber cereal mixed with cinnamon toast cruch, & some juice.
if your just not a breakfast person eat special k bars walking out the door. there YUUMMMYY.
i can not tell you how much that helps. i started eating break fast before my friend picked me up for school & within a week i lost 5 pounds.
eat an orange in the morning & at night.
its chalk full of vitamins & i think there really yummy! there also good in fiber.
drink 1% or skim milk, it really dosnt taste gross & its SOOO much healthier.
make sure your eating fiber & protein thats like the super deit!
eat an high fiber cereal every morning & throughout the day eat protein bars. (Pure protein @ walmart in the supliment area)
& then have a big dinner :)
its a good thing your running that should help alot too.
i havent had a soda in about 5 months. they rot your teeth & make you fatter.
so stick to water water water. the trick is to drink half your body weight each day. so if you weigh 100 lbs. drink 50 oz of water.
i would also recomend rasins or (my fav) CRAZINS! there so yummy! & they count as 3 servings of fruit. so grab a bag & snack on them durring school.
& pleaase dont think your fat. :[ trust me your only 10 if you start this now when you turn 13 or 14 you'll lose all that baby fat trust me. you wont stay your weight forever!
& untill you shed some weight why not try layering cute clothes.
they'll make you seem slimmer & u'll be up to date with fasion! go to kohls.
& yell your sister to stfu if she mess's with you about something as sesitive as your weight,
1. body slam the brat.
2.call her mean skinny names like twigger or anna (for annerexic)
no body should tease someone about their weight. & if she acts like she dosent care for the names just keep saying it over & over & over & over dont even call her by her real name.
lol & when she gets mad, just say 'dont snap twiggy!'
good luck! if you have any questions just ask im a total health nut & a vegaterian. so just ask.

I agree that you need to talk to your doctor, but the healthy way to go would be both exercise and healthy eating habits. This means that you eat healthy foods and don't over do it. Water needs to be your drink of choice and lots of veggies. But, even if you eat healthy, you still need to exercise. Find something you enjoy doing and do it regularly. Some may like to jog, but maybe you would prefer playing basketball or something. Also, you are only 10 so don't get obsessed with being skinny. Skinny is not healthy and you do not want to develop an eating disorder. Best of luck!

It's good that you are trying to start before you become too overweight. You should try to cut back on sugary/fatty foods/candy/sweet stuff. They will not help. Also, try to do some walking. If you have a dog, take him/her along with you. It makes it alot more fun. Or you can have your own little work out routine. For me, music makes everything seem more fun. When I'm working out, or on the treadmill, MUSIC is my best friend. Good luck! It takes a brave person to admit they are becoming overweight.

well of course with eating right and exercise you can use some major tips like:
*drink 2-3 green teas a day
*NO CANDY
*NO SODA
if you do these things alone even without exercise youll lose about 5 pounds in a month.it worked for me.but you'll stil lose most of your weight by excercising

I would first talk to your doctor about a diet, he/she could refer you to a dietitian. Next you should go to one of the health clubs, and work with a fitness staff member who can work with you to get a regimen for you. good luck
