theres this girl in my class and we are sort of friends, we talk on msn and a bit at school. She seems very interested in me because i think she is alot like me, but when i asked her out she said that she didnt think she could. So im wondering if this means "didnt want to" or "couldn't"

Hmmm I'm thinking she shot you down. If she wanted you she would have been a bit clearer with her answer. But it sounded like she was uncomfortable.
Good Luck though. My hats off to you for having the guts to ask her out.

I would take her at her word, myabe her family has plans. Don't read something into a simple statement that wasn't there. If you wanted clairification you should have asked her then...not waited until you go to the message boards...no one here knows what is going on in her head.

either she really doesn't like you
she's not ready to move on
or she's been hurt before and isn't sure about you.
if i were you i think i would keep talking to her and try to become her friend once you guys have become a little bit closer ask her to go to lunch with you as a friend type of deal not as date.
just relax take your time maybe she's one of those girls that likes to be friends first.

Yeah, that's a weird answer. Maybe she's not allowed to? Maybe her parents are really strict, or maybe she's got other things she has to do?? Not sure, but you'll need to get clarification from her.
