We were on our first date together and we started making out, a ran my hand up his arm and after a couple of seconds he pulled away and seemed uncomfortable, then he kind of repositioned himself in his seat and after what seemed like forever he let out a long sigh of what sounded like relief and scooted next to me again. Yeah its sounds like it. Its happened to me before when i was making out with a girl (i was so turned on) but i didnt back down i just re positioned myself so she wouldnt know and it wouldnt get in the way. He probably didnt want you to know about it hence the backing off but he kinda did a poor job of it, but still he is really turned on by whatever you were doing.

He probably thought that he would offend you by getting excited, he calmed himself down, then decided to get back closer to you.
Its no big deal, he just was 'aroused', and wanted to calm down.
