I just did a round trip to NY two weeks ago, I put in the luggage a Zip lock with pills: Valium, Ambien (is hard for me to fall sleep in hotels), and I did not have any problem. You do not need a prescription as long as you have your name printed in the original container.

No, bring the prescription. They don't care about pills, just guns and explosives. Only if you are going across seas would it be an issue.

Never put your meds in your check in luggage, always carry them with you. If they are lost it will be hard getting a refill. Better safe then sorry. I never had any problem taking them in my carry on Luggage. But you must have them in the orginal container.

If they're in your checked baggage, no problem. You can bring prescription medicine on the plane; just be sure the prescription bottle has your name on it.

just put them in your bag that you check in. Otherwise if they are on you when you fly- just keep them in the orginal prescription container and all should be fine.
