My son just spent the week with his dad and his grandparents. He has come back home expecting to get his way all the time. He screams at me until I give in, I know they must have done that while they had him because he knew better before he left with them. He's like a totally different kid. He also is throwing major tantrums, throwing himself on the floor and arching his back while screaming, and turns red in the face. How do I get him to stop acting this way?

I am surprised to hear that an 11 month old is throwing tantrums..........
I really don't think he is old enough to change his behaviour when he's been with his dad, I think maybe he is just reacting to the fact that he misses his dad and becomes upset when he is brought home (not because he doesn't want to be with you but because it means he's away from dad). He probably is just reacting to the fact that he knows dad is gone and not just behaving "bad" for you.

Give him a few days to readjust to being home. Sounds like he spent some the holidays getting spoiled by grandparents. Be firm and consistant with him and he will be back to normal in no time.

I would say try ignoring him. My son is the same way and they think by doing that, you will get tired of yelling and saying no just so they will stop throwing a hissy fit and you give in. I started ignoring my son and he now knows he won't get his way by doing that sorda thing. Good luck.

what ever you do never give in. after a while of not getting his way
he'll stop.expect this behavior after each visit with his father.
pretend you don't see or hear him throwing these fits.it will be hard no one likes to hear there child cry or have tantrums but stick to it or as he gets older it could get harder.good luck be patient with him.

Ignore him, hard as it may be. Fortunately, a week is a long time to a little kid so after a week or two with you he may forget to act that way, especially if he's ignored.

try to ingor it but if he trys to hurt himself throwing a tantrum just hold him til he stops then smack his hand or pop his butt once or twice on his diaper but don't hurt him really bad just to make it sting for a few seconds or to make a real loud sound on his diaper

YOu just said it yourself--" He screams at me until I give in." stop doing that. Period. He will test you, but if you are calm and strong, you will win in the end.

IGNORE IT!!!
I know it's hard, but when he knows mommy means 'no', he'll try a bit harder then a bit more then give up.
Be firm!
