I'm thinking about getting a perm with big rods...overall, my hair is long, so I think it has enough length, but I have layers beginning at the top. Do you think it would come out fine? Or should I wait until the layers are gone? Is it easier and better to get a perm when your hair is cut one-length?

Absolutely! A permanent wave can be done successfully on layered hair just as well as hair that is one length. I personally think the layers will look very cute! The larger rods will give it more of a natural wave rather than tight curls. Go for it! You'll love it and getting ready will be a breeze!

Yes it would be fine to do it layered, usually hair is layered for perms anyway. Only the really long hair should be left one length for spiral curls.

To achieve hair like the pics you want to ask for a spiral perm. I know you said you don't want a spiral perm but that is what is shown in the pics. So I really don't know what to tell you. I can't tell you how to have your hair permed so it will look like the pics without telling you to ask for a spiral perm, using a body wave with purple or orange rods.

perms actually work better with layers stick with the big rods though and be prepared to style it or scrunch your new do eceryday though. long hair pulls down so any wave is usually not there. try it there are some really gentle perms now.

well my sister has a perm and i mean she has layer but the thing is that they will b a little shorter but u could flat iron it now if ur going to get them big soo it could be really really curly then it should look ok but if u get ur perm wavy curly like my sister did then there shouldnt be any problem:)

when you get a perm on layered hair, you will be able to see the curls more defined and your hair will be fuller. when you perm on one length hair you will get more of a wave because of he weight of your hair.

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, As well as since that men who like females are more often then not straight, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most guys have short hair.

layers will make it curlier but they also make it look funny if you get a lot. my sister did when she was younger and it looked awful.
