That actually doesn't sound like much to me since you are tall. But it's all a matter of how you feel and what your build is!!!
If you have a small build and don't feel as if you are carrying your weight well, then by all means go on a healthy diet...what matters is what YOU think...and obviously you don't feel good about it...so if I were you I'd lose a little and see if that made me feel better in my clothes, in swimsuits, etc.
But if you still don't feel good after losing some weight...then you know it's not the weight that is the problem...

Edit: Don't listen to people online who are giving you a chart. Those charts don't take into account someone's BUILD, body fat percentage, or family history. And also keep in mind that overweight people will always tell someone who weighs less than them that they need to gain weight...they're trying to even the playing field or something.

I think that the only way that you would need to lose weight is if you have excess fat. You have to be care full when you look at those charts that say what you should weight based on your height. They do not always work. Some people can be very tall, with a very thin frame, and then still have excess fat even though their weight is what the chart says it should be. 120 sounds like a good weight for a person who is 5'8". But again, it depends on other factors. Maybe the next time you see your doctor you could ask her/him this question. Or if you are by your local YMCA you could talk to a personal trainer (usually this is free there). My guess is that you do not need to lose weight, but you should check with a professional. Good luck.

According to the BMI you could actually weigh up to 160 and still be considered within your ideal weight range. Although it would be lower if you are small framed there is no way a doctor anywhere would tell you you're overweight. I'm with the other guy if you feel fat do some toning excersises. Then go to a buffet somewhere so you can see what actual fat people look like.

Your BMI is 18. Congrats, you're underweight.
Healthy BMI is b/t 18.5 and 25. A median weight for your height would be between 145-150 lbs. Skinny and still healthy at your weight (with a reasonable BMI of 20) would be a weight of about 130-135 lbs.
Don't worry so much. I'm sure you're fine. You should gain some weight if anything! Such a sacrifice, I know! :)

Sounds like you have or could be on the verge of an eating disorder if you think you're overweight at these stats.

five eight and 120 is a teen's weight (or a model, someone who is forced to keep the weight down) or someone who eats normally, but has a high metabolism.

if you go to the doctor and check your normal body weight range, i think you'll find you're at the bottom (or below) the normal weight range and body fat index.

if you're feeling sluggish, exercise is always good. so is adding some vitamins, etc.

You should weight what YOU feel comfortable with. 5'8" and 120 is not much at all. One of my best friends is literally 100 pounds heavier than you and only 1 inch taller. 5'9" 220 and yeah he's fat. You are not fat. If you're looking for an axscuse to puke, you'll find it but it ain't because you're fat.

Take a look at these answers. Not ONE single person said they want waifer thin. They all said chick with a little bit o thick to em is nice.

I'm 5' 4", and I should weigh closer to that than I do, which means you shouldn't be loosing any weight. Actually, you should probably gain some, depending on your body type of course.

No, but you could think about toning up a bit if you feel flabby. Think lighter weights and more repititions. This may help you to lose inches, you'll look and feel better. Maybe opt for a new haircut or something...?

you are too skinny. You need to weight at least 135 to 140 just to look good. otherwise, the way you are, you look like a skeleton.

If you feel flabby, then work out some, make some nice muscles. I don't mean becoming a body builder, just a little makes you feel good.
