Nothing beats something from the heart. If you've been with him for 2 years than you know what he likes. Find a way to incorporate something that he is passionate about and something that captures the essence of the time that the two of you have shared together.

just take him some where alone.just you and him.
let there be romance/shampain to spice up the night.

If he likes videogames, get like a giftcard to GameStop, or for something a little more adult, try a boozecruise or tix to a football game at nearby college town if he's into that

You could get him two long stem roses, one yellow for your friendship that will always be and one red to represent your love. You could purchase a nice chain with a two part heart (you keep one half and he keeps the other) which reminds him he holds your heart. If you don't want to do the chain, you could do the same with a key chain.... congrats on your relationship, wonderful stuff!

you could just do something sentimental (if he likes senitmental things). You could make him a scrapbook or a video message. Maybe you can go back to where you had your first date.

Hope you have a terrific time.
Maybe it's time to give him an engagement ring?
