How old are you?I started at age 11 and have used tampons since then. If I were you, I'd ask your mother or another trusted woman. They DO make tampons for teenagers that are not quite as large, and they ALL come with instructions in the box. You could try those just to start, and see what you think.

Why not. tampons made my period so much more comfortable. I started using them when I was 14 when I had a big weekend planned with friends at an amusement park and other activities. It was one of the best thing my mom ever suggested.

you can try them i have used them since i was sixteen. it may seem weird at first buy the slim ones that are not super absorbancy. it helps to put one leg up on the tub or toilet and insert it goes in easier. once inserted you should not feel it in there at all if you can it is not inserted far enough. change it often every two hours or so until you get the hang of it. they have some rally silky applicators that smoothly go in. i use ob tampons no applicators you insert by putting your finger in the opening of the tampon on the bottom. you can try if you don't like it go back to pads. tampons are not dangerous if used right.

First of all why is this in the hair section? And believe me you will be SO glad you switched to tampons when you do, though it'll take a couple times to get used to probably.

You're ready. Buy the slender tampons and give it a try (instructions included in the box).

ask your mom shell know, but i personally like tampons better because pads are all sticky and nasty, while a tampon you just stick in, and then when your done pull it out and flush the toilet. i was in the 8th grade when i started using them, im in the 10th now and i havent had problems, so give it a try

Tampons may be used at the onset of the first period, even if you are a virgin.

Well I'm 14 and I've had it since like 6th grade....I keep trying to insert tampons but it just never seems to work out for me and I'm not sure why.....It never hurts to try using them....You should first try with the light flow tampons and it's easier with plastic applicators....You can go on beinggirl.com for more info.....GOOD LUCK!

Things to think about: tampons cause infections and can get stuck. They can also cause shock. But they are convenient. I, for one, have never used them on the advice from my gynocologist. I've never heard of a gyno that recommended using them. But all because I'm not fond of them doesn't mean they aren't meant for you. You may love them. But think about it first. It's a pretty life-changing ordeal.
