Okay I am 26 years old, a certified medical assistant and I am still freaking myself out, although I calm others about it! So I found a lump in 2003 that they removed and became a fibroabnoma. Then in June of 2006 I found another. All in the same breast. Okay that one became a fibroabnoma too, but they only needle biopsied. So tonight, I found another one. In the left breast this time. I am sick of being so cysty. What can I do? My mother had breast cancer at 45 and she is in remission right now. So I know at some point I will get it, but I am only 26 and I know it isn't unheard of. What can I do to make sure that I don't get more? I am a B cup with not much there and what is there, is all fibroabnomas. How frustrating!

I am not removing my breasts! Can't I just get the cysts removed? Won't they just go away. Obviously I will not breastfeed because that will probably cause more problems. Thanks though

Ok, so your have fibrocystic breast disease, it's common (unfortunately), but also completely benign, it is not a risk at all for developing cancer. I still think that you should let your doctor know about any new lumps that you discover, but the odds are that they're just more fibroadenomas for which nothing needs to be done.

I'm a nurse. I know this is a difficult time for you, hang in there. You know there is no easy way to say this but have both breast removed to eliminate the problem. You will then be OK. There are implants and all sorts of things you can substitute these days. The surgeons have payment plans also. I hope this is useful information for you. Ask your doctor also for opinions that suit your needs.

Go see a doctor today, don't wait for an answer from an RN.
