This movie is about the run-down school that has been taken over by a new principal . The school was suffering from very low morale, and violence was common. He took drastic measures to get rid of all the gangsters and drug-dealers terrorizing the school and eventually lead the students to do well on all their test-exams. The movie is based on a true story. It is very well played and a very inspirational one. Every school teacher should definitely watch it. It also exposes the flaw-backs of the education system in America.
Morgan Freeman plays the principal.

Lean on Me is a movie in which there is a troubled highschool. The students are entirely out of control. Morgan Freeman comes in and becomes principal. He takes over and puts in discipline and everyone starts to like him. But he suspended some of the really bad kids and so their moms got pissed off. They wanted him in jail and convicted him because he had chained all but the front door shut which was a fire hazard. In the end they let him out as the whole school is protesting. Or something like that.

Lean On Me" is film about taking risks, believing in change, and following your inner strength. Joe Clark. (Morgan Freeman) is appointed the principal of a "failing" inner city school. He comes in full-blazing to try and change the school. He focuses on raising the achievement tests score of the students. The character of Clark is not a man without fault. He is portrayed as a strong and energetic individual who sometimes hurts the feelings of others due to his lack of finesse when dealing with other adults.

If I'm thinking of the same movie to which you are making reference, then it is a rather strange movie, set in the 1950's about a group of young boys who go on a quest in search of a fat kid [who I remember them calling a "monster" or somethign to that degree] and eventually discover his body in the bushes after he was beaten to death by his father.
If memory serves, the movie concludes at that point.
Like I said, it's a strange movie.
