In the jurisdiction I work in, our DA is so weak with prosecuting any crime, if someone files a false police report, they will get a thank you for waisting the police time and then send them on there way.
Because of that, we don't bring charges on anyone who files a false police report because we're waisting our time.

You will go to jail. And be charged with Filing a False Police Report. Always better to turn yourself in, before they catch it themselves. Honesty will take better care of you in the future. Trust me.
