Three problems with your logic.
A) The water animals wouldn't be bothered by such a flood and would be able to survive, but you probably already knew this one.
B) The Islamic religion I believe uses the same story.
C) The Bible and other religious texts aren't always meant to be taken literally. The tale of Noah's Ark and the big flood that wiped out all the other living things was most likely symbolism for an actual event, but a giant flood and an ark with two of each animal was probably just for dramatic effect.

Hello =)
What need would there have been to bring them upon the ark??
Being that the world was deluged, and that water covered the known earth, and water animals were capable of swimming??
One does not usually need be concerned about fish drowning, after all......
I'm sure that in that event, which likely did take place, whether one believes in Noah or not, the water animals were just fine. It was the land animals that were of great concern. Even then, the entirety of the planet was not covered with water, merely the "known world"...... In Islam, also, there are tales of the great deluge.
Buddhism has no particular legend, although the Brahminism, from which Buddhism springs did have such a legend, in which the creator, Brahma, watched with apathy, as the earth sank into the ocean, not really knowing what to do. A giant boar, named sveta issued forth out of his nostril, and with his great boar tusks, lifted the earth out of the deluge.
So, no matter which religion you choose, you cannot escape the legend of the great flood, it seems.
Namaste, and Happy New Year,
--Tom

Actually, that's an interesting question. I would doubt it, but maybe.
The funny thing is, you say you might turn Islamic or Buddhist, but not to go to something. Only to run from something else.
Well, anytime you're ready, there is a true, living, God ready to have a relationship with you.

The water animals were already in water; a little more water wouldn't have killed them, and they didn't really need any saving.

It's not God that's false, it's people. The God of the Bible isn't real, but that doesn't mean there is no god at all.

It's too bad he had to go and let the morons on board. If he would have just let them drown we could avoid questions like this.
