It should not cause the alarm in the walk-through metal detector to sound unless it is very large. Most nipple piercings are small enough that the amount of metal in them wouldn't make the alarm go off. However, if you get selected for additional screening and have to be wanded with the hand held metal detector, it will set the alarm off on this. If this happens, you can request a private screening (by two employees of your sex) if you are uncomfortable with the normal wanding. If you let your screener know you have a piercing, this always speeds up the process too.

Please note, not all airports are covered by the TSA (Kansas City is a prime example) and each airport's equipment may be set a slightly different tolerances. Last time I flew, they opened by bag to search my keys at a small airport in Texas. The same keys went through without a second look in Kansas City. Your mileage will vary by airport.

Nope no problems. They are looking for amounts that could possible be part of a weapon and or bomb. Two nipple peircings barely make up a wedding ring. There is also the whole chemistry between elements and metals, and diffrences in surgical steel, steel, titanium, and the like. We won't go into that here.

they won't set off the gated alarm, but they will beep with the wand- but even then all you'll get most likely from the security guard is a wise grin!!! I just got to and from Denmark with no problems at all...
