My respect for the pastor would rise immensely, and my respect for anyone who protested would plummet.
I think if Christians want their religion to survive, they're going to have to make some major attitude adjustments. A religion that doesn't change and grow is doomed.

Unfortunately, there are going to be some people who don't "like" it. They are completely unworthy of your time and/or attention because they are not following Christ's basic rule - "Do unto others..." Ah, you know it.
If this is just a hypothetical, hopefully the group can teach those that are ignorant, yet smart enough to stay. There will be a couple of good ones - the pastor, for example. I hope - I just PRAY that noone gives you the Biblical verse about the 'sin' of homosexuality. I am down on my knees praying not to see in print something THAT hypocritical (if one followed every word of the Bible they would all be sinning countless times and there would be passages for them to). And I'm not religious! As for those those Christians who believe it would be some sort of travesty, how can you interpret the Word Of God unless you are God him/her/itself? There are so many passages in the bible that render you "not a Christian". It's amazing you've managed to skip all of those and simply read about the so-called 'sin' of homosexuality. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that one sin is worse than another. Stop playing God. I doubt your God would forgive you for deciding who can and cannot worship him. You have all broken Biblical rules but suddenly they don't matter if you can blame it on someone else and thus somehow 'ignore' your own sin. You are cowards, plain and simple. I'd like each of you to find a verse you've broken and wonder what it would be like if people decided that was the "worst one". Love between consenting adults is never, ever a sin.
For *Buddy* down below - you mention we do not understand the 'veracity' of our own words? I understand that I'm right. But thank you for pointing it out again.
Anyhow, NH, be prepared for the idiots, and be prepared for the good people who truly live their lives 'through Christ'. Someone I know who is outwardly gay is a pastor with one of the Catholic churches in Rhode Island. He has spent his entire life caring for others - travelling throughout Africa and America, and educating others about AIDs and working with troubled teens. The Pope honored him in Rome a few weeks ago. I hope you'll send your energy his way - we recently learned he has lung cancer (he never smoked) and he could use all the good wishes people can muster. Thanks.

The church were I am a member has several gay members, one or two on staff, and a "group" if you want to call it that. Yet this my parent's church where I was raised. I never changed my membership, as I have moved around ever since. Anyway, I doubt there would be much uproar over it.

Well, my pastor is in the GLBT community, so we would probably be a little bored.
Unless the gay group had a great presentation!

My pastor wouldn't do it. Although it wouldn't surprise me if we had a few homosexuals in our midst. It's just not really an issue. I don't go to a "fire and brimstone" church. I think in two months, our pastor has mentioned hell once.

I would like to see that. Also, yes, gay people can be and are christians. They aren't most people's version of one because most people's version is bigoted, arrogant, and self-righteous.
Although, I don't think many church's would do this because its harder to discriminate against someone when they're staring you dead on in the face.
To the guy that posted below me, you would be surprised what they could teach you. From your post you definitely need a lesson to.

It would be fine. But, again, it should be about the experience of Chrisitanity, NOT the name of the group.

I'm Christian and I will NEVER go to a church that discriminates against anyone weather they are gay or any things else. God doesn't hate any one for any reason so why should we?

I attend a Freewill Baptist Church in western North Carolina and I can tell you this...it would never happen. Why bring them to discuss anything? The gays have nothing to teach me or my family. Homosexuality is an abomination against the Holy Spirit and God won't put up with it. You have answers from ignorant people already that don't understand the veracity of their words nor the accounting that will follow on the day of judgement.

I don't go to church. Too preachy, plus the non-bigoted pastors all left replaced by Kent-Hovind-Clones.
