I am going to New Zealand South Island for a couple of days during Easter, immediately few days before Good Friday until Easter Monday. I am wondering if there is anything going on in Christchurch during Easter period (Good Friday till Easter Monday) or is it a ghost town during that period? How about Fox Glacier or Mount Cook during the same period then? any tourists/holiday makers? Thank you

If you have four or five days then I would try to see all of the places that you listed. The best thing about the south island is the drive. It is out of this world. Try and get to as many places as you can.

Chch will always be busy on a Saturday night so you may want to plan to stay in town for that night. However, the rest of the time would be best spent taking in the amazing views.

Try to take in a rugby game on Friday or Saturday night. I think the Crusaders should be playing at that time.
