A prophet doesn't necesserily have to make a prophecy.
according to the Oxford Dictionary a prophet is a person " sent down to the people to spread the word of God"
and that's exactly what Muhammad (sal) did, just like Jesus, Moses and Abraham, he preached what God told him to,
only Muhammad (sal) is the last of all Prophets
oh and fish, Muhammad did NOT write down everything; God gave him the ability to memorise things fast, so he memorised the Qur'an, and later dictated it to the scholars who could write.
the Qur'an was compiled after Muhammad's death, coz he kept receiving revelations throughout his life

A prophet is man chosen by Allah to send a certain message.
He was given the message of Islam, and prophets usually get some miracles, and the Prophet's miracle was the Quran it was a wonder itself, it carried a lot of revelations in it and prophecies, and the stories of various prophets before...
And he did lead a whole nation.. and his actions and words interpreted many parts of the Quran and gave extra teachings that Muslims world wide rely on.

Thanks For Your Question
But don't you think that all prophets simply do what God tell them ? that what made them prophets !
The Romans have been defeated. In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, i.e. the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians),[30 :1]
God told him to say so or in other words to Gabriel to tell him so
that's why its a prophecy

I find it funny that those who claim that the Prophet Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him] preached violence take about 8 verses out of 6666 in the Qu'ran. Firstly lets make this a percentage 0.1% Ok, next lets see what context the verses were about, they were about the battles the Prophet had to fight against the Idolaters (Pagan Arabs). Taking the Jew Christian friend out of context especially makes me angry, because this was in a time when they were waring and if you were friends with them it was the risk you could leak military secrets.
Why don't the people actually READ THE ENTIRE Quran.
[060:007] Perhaps God will make friendship between you and those whom you hold as enemies. And God has power (over all things), and God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[060:008] God does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion nor drove you out of your homes. Verily, God loves those who deal with equity.
[060:009] It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that God forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zâlimûn (wrong doers – those who disobey God).
But hey, it won't affect me if you don't believe. On the Day of Judgment I am innocent of the deeds that you do, while you are innocent of the deeds that I do.
Please, for the sake of being an aware person, read the Qu'ran and then find out why we have the most converts each year in America.
Peace Be With You

Yes! The Prophet Mohammad would fit together with the prophets of the old Testament.
Like Moses, He led his people out of the darkness of paganism to truth in an eternal God..
Like Moses, he also had good laws to bring his people closer to God; but like Moses, many of his people contaminated the word of god with old traditional practices ....mixed with politics.

Its not the fact that Mohammad did not make prophecies that doesnt make him a prophet its his moral character. Have you seen what he preached? Look at the Quran (muslims believe these are applicable for all time):
Sura 5:51: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
Sura 5:38: Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise.
Sura 47:4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.
Sura 8:12: Remember your Lord inspired the angels (with the message), “I am with you. Give firmness to the Believers. I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. Smite you above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.
Sura 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom."
Sura 4:34:.....the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and beat them........
Mohammad was a ruthless warlord who had no mercy or compassion once he gained enough power.

He was the "messenger" of God. Prophets don't necessarily bring prophecies but carry some message from God. and Muhammad (pbuh), also made prophesies.

Gabriel????? from what I've read, old Mo never said it was Gabriel, that was his skanky child bride who decided where he should say the "prophesies" came from. Mo never wrote anything in the quran, the man was illiterate like most warlords of his era.
