My stomach is in knots right now, I gave away 4 of my season lowel level basketball(NBA) tickets to family members just so I could be the one at home taking care of not only my three kids but everyone elses. Kids are due to arrive any time now. This is just one of my small steps I'm taking in becoming a better person and it sure doesn't make me feel any better! I feel like I never get a break except when my x takes my kids every other weekend and thats not even a break because he counts on me to solve problems on my time off by calling me with every issue. Anyways I can feed all the kids check homework pay bills and read my Dr. Laura book and cry :(

sweety its totally ok to be selfish because if you arent then ypu will never be happy in life... its ok to splurge and think of yourself for a while, life is ment to be fun so start enjoying it.......... when your x has the kids again turn your phone off (dont think about it just f****N do it), book a day spa for yourself (just do it), if you cant afford it just cut $15 out of food shopping and $45 for whatever else and pamper your self... STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND DO IT BABE

OK, there is a difference between being unselfish and giving and being a door mat. You need to learn the difference. Doing nice things for your family and friends is one thing but giving up your life and interests is quite another. It doesn't make you a better person if you are just being a martyr. It just makes people know that they can walk all over you. There is a way to be both strong and know how to be helpful and unselfish.

I hear you loud and clear. I feel like this everyday. I am a stay at home mom and I feel like no one appreciates me anymore. I never get a break from my kids they are with me24/7. Of course I love it, but sometime I need a break. I have been feeling really down too about the whole situation I'm in. When did it get to the point where my husband doesn't acknowledge what I do anymore? Sometimes when you are a mom, you kind of forget about yourself and what makes you happy. When the x takes the kids, enjoy your time alone. I don't even get that time. uhh I'm depressed now! lol. I'm getting some ice cream! Best of luck to you.

Sweetie, it's selfish of you to not take care of yourself first. You have to care about you - FOR the other people in your life. THEN you take care of them. When you do that, then you are the best person you can be because you feel healthy and happy and have more to offer. Being a martyr is not healthy and happy. You all ready made your bed tonight. For the rest of the week, you take care of YOU, have the people that left their kids with you take care of your kids for a night so you can do what you want. Even if it's something simple like a long hot bath with candles and soft music. BE the Goddess that you know in your heart that you are.

You are unselfish. You put others before you. Sometimes its hard to do some of those things-like giving up your NBA tickets. We all like to say, "I deserve it," but your making other people really happy.

Seriously not to hurt your feelings but you sound more like a martyr than unselfish.
When your ex calls expecting you to solve things tell him that him solving things is part of being a parent and to quit relying on you to do it for him.

I think that you shouldn't do things just because you think they're going to make you be a better person. Do things because you WANT to do them. Ohterwise, you're not gonna get that happy feeling inside when you KNOW you did something good.

you're phiscially being unselfish by doing so much and donating so much, but you are not really unselfish as you are unfulfilled with doing a good deed.

You're not being unselfish if the reason you're doing something is for yourself.
