Yes gold is perfectly safe in the body and passes right through your digestive system.

I drink it all the time and have never had a problem. I also have worked in a bar for years and I've never seen a customer have a reaction. But-

Wikipeda says: A few years after its introduction, Goldschläger was reformulated to contain less gold due to some alleged accounts of individuals suffering allergic reactions.[1] The human body is not able to digest precious metals. An urban legend associated with this drink is that the gold flakes cause small incisions in one's esophagus, therefore allowing the alcohol to enter one's bloodstream faster.

AND

We describe the case of gold allergy after ingestion of GOLDSCHLAGER, a gold-containing liquor, in a patient with a previous allergy to gold jewelry. The patient was not aware that genuine gold particles were contained in the schnapps liquor and that ingestion could result in a reaction similar to that experienced by individuals sensitive to gold jewelry. Clinicians should be familiar with the presence of gold particles in GOLDSCHLAGER liquor and the potential for allergic reactions to occur in those so predisposed.

Yes, you can drink it.

Rumor that I've heard is that the "gold" is supposed to "cut" your throat when it goes down, allowing the alcohol to absorb quickly, or something to that extent. But again, this is just rumor I heard throughout college.

I have had goldschlager. Ok, but I'm not a "cinnamon" type gal necessarily.

Yes you drink goldsclager, the purpose of the little gold flakes is to get into system and tear you veins up while the alcohol is traveling through your system. It's for people that don't want to wait to get drunk. By the tearing of the veins causes the alcohol to get into the blood stream quicker make a person drunker much faster! The taste is kind of sweet but I wouldn't drink the gold! Personal opinion!!

you can drink it, your body can process gold as a nutrient. there is no value in a bottle of Goldschlager..unless you think a nasty hangover is priceless.

It's real gold but it's edible. It has to be edible and food-safe to be included in any food product.
