It would not be the Marines if there wasn't the yelling. They treat you this way mostly in boot camp (especially in the beginning) to see what you are made of and how you react. No emotion is the key they want you to find so you can unlock the soldier within you. It is not easy but it is what makes the Marine a warrior. They want to keep you in line when they yell. Helps you remember who really is the boss.
The Marines really fascinate me and I am going to become one soon so I've spent ALOT of time researching and getting to know the truth about the USMC. It is pretty cool.

To break you down so that they can BUILD you UP, follow orders, show initiative within the tactics and become a MARINE!
They actually have a course where they teach voice control; the face gets red, the veins in the neck pop, but you can talk in the morning; little good scotch helps at the club too.
They are simply preparing you NOT to DIE doing something stupid!
USN 1964-
Honorary Marine Corps DI.
Years ago I got into a confrontation in a bar and the guy called me outside. I was ready to fight even though he was 20 years my junior.
I used "THE VOICE" and said, "Stand and BRACE MAGGOT"! Much to my surprise he did, "SIR, YES SIR" was his response. We went back in, had a few beers and told sea stories for a couple of hours.
It is just training that never leaves you and that is probably a GOOD THING. I am welcome in many of the privately funded "Leatherneck Clubs" through out the US and a visit is ALWAYS NICE, even though they all call me "seagull raper".
Suck it up, know that there is a purpose and maybe one day i will buy you several drinks in a Leatherneck Club...I'll be the geezer at the end of the bar.
Good luck Son and THANKS for SERVING!

"It's a mind-game to see if you can be broken. If you can't take a man yelling at you, you can't take a man with a rag around his head shooting AK47 rounds at you." That was my husband's answer. He's a Sergeant in the Marine Corp and went to Iraq in an artillery unit when the war began on March 19, 2003.

For one, you learn self control, because that is generally something offensive. Second, in order to build up the "perfect soldier" they have to break you down first. It teaches you discipline. Everyone knows the mistake you made, it humiliates you to a degree, and you will defiantly not do it again, because the repercussions will be even worse.

they dont want wimps! anyways loud noises and scary things get you ready for the real ddeal. According to my dad the yealling isn't the worst thing. They make you eat like a ton of stuff then force you to run like 10 miles with heavy sacks.

To see if you can take stress and pressure.
If you have a problem with it, you shouldn't be a Marine or a soldier.
