yes indeedy, but i think they're just insecure about their role as a woman. you gotta be independent, because guys like that in a woman, but yet you gotta let him do his job, which is to treat you right.

If you want me to do that then you have to have the kids bathed, dinner on the table, the house cleaned and be dressed nice and pretty when I get home from work. I also like my shirts pressed with light starch and.....give me a break. People have ben evolving to be equals. This includes women in the work place and stay at home dads. Hey, I get that it takes all kinds to make the world go round but your looking for a guy who will also expect a lot of that garbage I listed up front there. lol. Happy hunting...... 0o

YES!!! I'm quite old fashioned.......I still believe in treating women this way. Got quite a surprise a few years back when I went on a date with one of those "modern day" women. About an hour into the evening, she looked at me and said: "if you open one more door for me or try to light my cigarette again, this date is over."
Go figure.......anyway, I'm too old to change my ways so if I ever date again, I WILL be opening doors for her and paying all expenses for the evening!

To be treated like a lady, one ought to behave like one (and the word is damned, not damn). I'm no lady (boring) but I can behave in a ladylike manner when the situation requires it, and I do at times enjoy being treated like a lady (the little courtesies).

However, point gaming isn't looked upon too favorably by Y!Answers so if they pull this, your "vote" will go for naught.

I have. I quickly learned she hates all of it. I opened the door for her, she opens the other door and goes through it on her own. I pull out her chair for her, she takes mine. After a while of trying and not working, I gave up. Soon I'm being blamed for having no class. There's just some relationships that shouldn't have started in the first place.

My husband takes my daughter out on dates when they are about 12-15 and does all that stuff for them so when they do start dating they know how they are supposed to be treated.
When my sons are older I will do the same with them so they know how to treat a woman they are out with.
You could always stand next to your chair and go "ahem" or stand till they get the hint. I would b/c that's what I expect.

Did I make it to #12?

I think both men and women want to be treated with respect. I have will always open doors for women, assist in seating them and stand when they come to the table. But times they are a changin'. And social rules and norms are becoming more lax.
When a woman asks me out to dinner, I always offer to pay, but they always insist. I think that is proper. If a man asks a woman out, he should expect to pay, if he is asked out, the woman should be expected to pay.

Yes, me I am the type of person that try to be very independent. I think that a woman should also treat her man once in a while because eventually men will start to think you are too dependent and cheat or leave you.

I like old fashioned values and manners. It is when you put 21st century ideology into it when we get a little confused. Just treat people with respect and like you want to be treated and it all seems to work out. I love chivalry but some women take it for weakness!!

There are many Women that resent that kind of treatment. My best friend is an accountant and she is that way. I always tell ehr to let the man feel like a man and buy her stuff. She refuse's. It's people like my friend that ruin for the rest of you! lol! '-)

Yes I have encountered women like that, and I agree... I appreciate that type of behavior in a man. It's old fashioned, but wonderful. A lost art.
