go to www.pgatour.com and get the stats when an event is completed. An event like the US open usually gets about no birdies and even par has had past winners. Then there is the Colorado Tournament where the more birdies you get, the higher score you end up with. Then the golfer with the highest score wins the tournament.
The golfcourse in the International is designed so that the most aggressive player gets rewarded with reachable par 5's in two and reachable par 4's with driver.
But the US Open design requires very narrow fairways and the rough has to grow at least 3 weeks before the tournament. Most if not all greens are fast, difficult flag location, and its raised all around the green. A fringe cannot save you because it drops down.
Every tournament has different variations in birdie stats.

it all depends on how hard the course is and then how many participants there is in it.
