i plead guilty to a felony over 10 years ago in Missouri, I was given probation,a fine, and an SES. I want to go back to school for a career in the medical field. I have a friend who is a police chief and he ran a background check for me and all the NCIC says on the report is "see following report"- but their is no following report. I found out that they dont actually run a background check until you are actually taking the state exams. Will the fact that I am "in the system" keep me from my goal? I am located in Arkansas now. Someone please help answer!!! Thanks!!

1) Yes, a felony will probably be a hindrance to your career.
2) The report is available if you know how to get it.
3) Your police chief friend could have his entire agency's NCIC priviledges revoked for running that background check for you without a valid criminal reason.
