I have three adult cats and a seven week old Shih T'zu pup. Can they share the same litter box? Anyone out there with experience in this situation?

NO! I don't mean to be rude, but dogs need to use dog litter. Eating some kinds of cat litter can kill them, and if they get the chance, most dogs will eat the cat poop. Ugh! Keep your dog away from the cats' litter box.

For information on dog litter and litter training dogs, check out www.doglitter.com. This is the site for Second Nature Dog Litter, made by Purina. This is what we use for our Chihuahua.

l heard that cats are carriers of parvo, so no, do not do that. the pup should stay away from all cats until they get their shots. then l still would not let them share the same litter box.

There are a couple problems. Puppies tend to eat cat poop which is not healthy for them. And if you use scoopable litter it is dangerous for a puppy to ingest it. I would advise if you want to litter train your pup you get him his own litter box and use litter specifically designed for dogs.

It is not recommended that they share the litter box because of the puppy's developing immune system.

Until the puppy is old enough to be immunized it shouldn't be exposed to other animals. Parasites from other animal feces can make a puppy very ill and you will have a hard time treating him if he catches anything.

No, because pups need to use the bathroom outside and well cats need space from dogs. And dogs shouldn't go in litter boxes it's not right.

definite, yet there's a clarification for having 2, whether you in easy terms have one cat. Cats desire to segregate their 'employer' in separate muddle packing containers. And with in easy terms one muddle field, you may make beneficial it truly is scooped out daily. And if one cats demands somewhat greater pristine muddle field, with 2 it could get rank, and which could be an argument.

Heaven's no! Have you ever smelled a cats litterbox? It's like pure amonia! No no no. Teach your dog to go outside or if you MUST teach it to use those stupid piddle pads. Litterboxes are for cats!

Dogs also love to eat the cat excriment, so it's just a bad idea all around.

Nope, sorry, no experience. Why can't your dogs go outside? They need to go out regularly anyways. Fresh air and new scents are like candy to them. Not to mention the fact that they need exercise outside the home...
