Hi
Yes ear mite medicine goes in the ear and shouldn't react with the metrodinzole. I have dogs on it from drinking river water and getting Giardia and have never had any reaction what so ever. Hope this helps.

Did the vet tell you it had ear mites???? Clearly the pup has been to the vet if it is on Metronidazole. It is best to be sure it has ear mites. They are not as common in puppies as they are in kittens. Many times, the puppies just have dirty ears or an infection. Why not call the vet that is treating the pup and ask for a good treatment.....if it is ear mites.

Ear mites really are not that big of deal. Sure they sound gross and who likes the idea of creepy crawly bugs being around their home, but really the drops will take care of it, my two dogs have had them a few times too. Flea, tick, and mite preventatives are not always 100% especially when it comes to the ear mites. If your dog has floppy ears then they are excellent at harboring bacteria and are truly a breeding ground for gunk like yeast and bacterial infections and of course ear mites. You did the best thing by getting him treatment right away. Left untreated for a long period of time the ear can become very swollen and then the infection can take months to clear up, or even in the most serious of cases hearing loss can occur. For my pup whose only 6 months old and has had ear mites once and 2 yeast infections in his ears he is on an ear gel that I give to him twice weekly. Also, if he goes swimming or has been in the rain and his ears are wet I use nova cleanse to dry them out. Both are prescpription from the vet and have worked beautifully.

There is this ear mite treatment you can buy at a store , it shouldnt have any reaction with each other just use very little of the ear mite treatment, not as much as they direct, cause we had a dog with them to and she was on medication and we still gave her the treatment and she didnt have any problems, but just to be on the safe side you can ask any one at pets mart or your vet to

an easy way to remedy ear mites is take a cotton ball and get it damp with flea dip and clean your dogs ears with it. i do not think it would interact with any other drugs, but you should call your vet to make sure, a tech can tell you over the phone.
ear mites will look like coffee grounds in your dogs ear, make sure it is ear mites before you go though with any treatment

Your vet can best answer this question. S/He will know which meds can be used at the same time without any danger. Good luck.
