CLEARLY these are not me (in the photos) but it is the best I could do...
I went from...

I have blonde hair.
I love my new cut I would not trade it for anything in the world. I cut off over 15 inches when I cut it off (and yes I donated it).

Because you have thick hair do not cut it, the shorter YOUR hair is the harder it will be to style.
Get an 1" or 1 1/2" curling iron and do barrel curls mainly on the bottoms. Put some lighter highlights in it to frame your face, blonde or caramel blonde. Tease the back of your hair to make it poofy but because your hair is thick it will not be a big poof, but it will still add volume to your hair.

What hairstyle will look good on you will depend on the thickness of your hair, and your face shape. Your face shape is really important, so you need to either post a picture or say what shape you are (oval,square,round,heart...). Then it'll be much easier to advise you.

I get all my hairstyle ideas from Sophisticate's Black Hair Magazine or Sophisticate's Hair Magazine, both which you can find at any magazine stand. They have a ton of great hairstyles

I don't have any sites or pics to give you, but try layers. They look really cute with long hair.
