I wish I could change your mind about the butterfly tattoo. They're so cliche, particularly on the lower back. Tattoo's were meant to convey some amount of individualism. If you insist on a butterfly, I think it would be a more appropriate way to signify the change by getting a butterfly perched just outside of it's Cocoon on a tree branch. The symbolism would be more apparent.

I would look into regular story books or books on butterflies and such....if you find a good artist, they can often draw it for you and can even create one for you with the components that you want.....You might want to do that instead of choosing flash from the parlor. Butterflies are a very common tattoo on people so you might want to try to customize it to make it unique from really common ones. Might mean a little more to you if you help create the tattoo as well ....best of luck...

Most good tatoo parlors have books and books of tatoos to look through. Also many tatoo artists will custom draw a tatoo with you to make sure it will be exactly what you want.they are usually very helpful in picking out colors, picking out the best placement.

Any butterfly picture you find that you like you can take to the artist, they can draw it for you. I have a lizard on my back, I went to the artist with nothing and just explained to him what I wanted, the size , color , & details.

Most of the tatoo artists i know are really good artists in themselves. They can make you a butterfly way better than any stencil can ever compete with. My first tatoo I drew myself, but recently had a better one put right over it. I'm very proud of it now.

Congratulations on your decision. I have a tattoo of an oak tree on my upper-arm, this symbolizes growing, and strength. I like your idea of a 'butterfly', maybe I'll stop by my local shop and get one too. =o) Take Care.

if you can find a picture you like on the internet just print it off.
when you go get a tattoo they have to draw it onto paper that is placed on your skin and the ink comes off on it so they can go over it with the ink and needle...
if you cant find a pic.....just take in one similar and be there as the artist draws it and you can say what you want and dont want etc.
