yes and it has been proven that only a section of the brain is being used and the other areas are not. you have to try to balance the time (get a timer) and balance the natural areas of your life, including the other areas of your brain that don't include monkey see monkey do.push the button and make it go.it will turn you into a callous nonfeeling push the button easily angered impulsive and compulsive machine. Take care and don't forget your HUMAN SIDE:) OH AND BEFORE i FORGET,,,,IT IS THE REASON FOR MANY EYEGLASSES ON EVEN THE YOUNGEST LITTLE COMPUTER ADDICTS.

I can't imagine that spending alot of time on the computer could cause anything less than damage to your social life, but spending little time asleep can cause quite a few difficulties.
The brain needs time to recharge, and while that happens, the body is quite relaxed.. it enables healing time for the physical self. The brain, as it recharges, is able to process all sorts of information, both past and present, and place the info into it's proper compartments. These series of events tend to overlap (while asleep, it's called "dreaming", when awake, it is hallucinations). So, when you deprive yourself of sleep, you deprive your body it's natural need to rest and heal, and you further subject your brain and mind of it's ability and need to sort things out (not to mention, the need for interesting individuals to "explain your dreams".... der). Get some rest... the computer will be there tomorrow, your mind may not.

Sleep deprivation is always bad for you. Dream deprivation is a fast trip ticket to insanity. Your entire self needs both dreams and sleep to continue functioning.

Add to the sleep deprivation the fact you are concentrating on whatever you are doing on the computer.
More mental work, more need for the release of dreaming.
dreams, even nightmares, are a healthy outlet for the things your innermost consciousness, and if you don't let your inner child, as it's called, work the ideas and information out in sleep, when your body is essentially paralyzed, it might start a process where you do your dreaming while awake, and able to act them out. Better to have sleep.

it does make sense. and yes it does affect how you live. your mindset changes and you body isn't strained. I do it during the summer, but I practice soccer on my own schedule every day. so exercise is always plentiful. on the acting part, not really. you might be a little slower in reaction time or act a little "out there". sleep is really important. if you do stay up on the computer untill 11:30 or later just make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep and you exercise during the day.

You have increased your exposure to Electro Magnetic Fields and so could see a difference in your behavior and even the way you feel or your body works. To help counteract that, you might want to add some extra Magnesium to your diet (in supplements or in blueberries and other foods high in magnesium) and look into those EMF neutralizing tabs that you can stick on the computer to lessen the effect. Sleep deprivation in general can affect your cognitive functioning. Some research has shown that there is such as thing as computer addiction, when you feel compelled to use the Internet to the point that it negatively affects your life.

Go to this site to take a test to see if you are addicted to the Internet:

Ok staying up later and looking at the computer screen will cause a head ache. When you are asleep and have a head ache it will probably effect actions and behavior

it can definately effect the way you act. first of all you aren't getting enough sleep so your body is going to be more tired and irritable and secondly if you spend tooo much time on the computer it could actually make your body sick.

Yes, you can become addicted to computer usage. Just see how many people lose their friends and families to excessive computer usage. It's easy to lose touch with a real live person, when we can be anonymous on line. Turn it off and talk to your friend, spouse, parent, etc.

I don't know how many hours you are sleeping, but I know one thing for sure: sleep deprivation can drive one literally insane. Why do you think they torture prisoners of war with sleep deprivation......to break their spirit and sanity........be careful as sleep is a gift we get to accept. It heals our minds and bodies.
