Some people put a rubberband on their wrists and when they feel the urge to scratch, they pop the rubberband which smarts a little. I know how hard it can be to stop an ingrained habit, but you can change. You need to use your willpower. Also, whenever you make a change, that is to take something out of your routine, you are making a hole that needs to be filled. Understand? So, you can put whatever new habit you want in the old habit's place. I would suggest that when you get the urge to scratch, that you do something else instead. Find something that you can do all the time, that doesn't bother anyone nearby, and takes your mind off it. Figure out what you can do that would benefit you in some way instead of hurting you. This might be just your ticket: change you current habit to a new and better habit! Good luck!

First of all get a good dandruff shampoo, most dermatologist recommend using Head and Shoulders. Then I would cut your finger nails short so when you do scratch you're not gonna cause that much damage.

You might have to see a dermatologist about that bald patch though. Sometimes hair falling out in patches or being ripped out in patches can be something more serious than dandruff so you might wanna play it safe and get that checked.

If you do have some scratches on your scalp rub a little Neosporin on them to help the healing.

Well, I honestly don't know much about hair (I don't have any). But, I happen to know a bit on dandruff. What you need to do is use non-dandruff hair shampoos, this should help prevent dandruff from occuring as much. After a few weeks of doing this the dandruff should be gone. Also, you need to stop scratching, it will only make things worse and take longer. I hope your problem is fixed soon, God bless.

Why hurt yourself just because of a habit? Its not fair too you. So try to stop. Its a simple answer, i agree, but you need to know how. My cousin had very bad dandruff problems but she used head&shoulders. Try using that. And after a while it results should show. No results show immediantly. If nothing else works then try asking your doctor. And for the itching. The scabs are itchy because there healing. So try hard to refuse to scratch or else they will never heal.

Are you sure it's just dandruff? It could be psoriasis. Those scabs you mentioned might actually be psoriasis plaques. Maybe a visit to a doc is in order. Whether it's dandruff or psoriasis, it sounds like you might need something more than over-the-counter treatments.

Good luck.

Wear gloves as much as you can, like really soft ones. It sounds really dorky, but it would work. When you scratched at your head, the gloves wouldn't cause any actual harm, but you have to have self control to not take the gloves off.

First of all........STOP SCRATCHING! You're just making it worse. And if you find it hard to stop, before you scratch, think of what will happen if you do. And Head & Shoulders shampoo works.
