Start yourself out by keeping a chart where you can tick off how many glasses of water a day you are consuming. For healthy habit 8-12 glasses of water daily is ideal. Try to intake about two glasses of skim milk daily. As for other drinks, stay completely away from other liquids like pop or juice-they contain more calories and sugar then you might imagine and do not fill you up like water or milk does. Eat a high protein breakfast like eggs, or meat, and a whole grain bread (one serving). This will help you feel a little more energized and not as hungry throughout the day. If you are really hungry for snacks, grab some complex carbs, like fruit, particularily grapefruit and try to stay away from starchy foods for the rest of the day. You don't have to starve yourself! Just eat healthy! Salads with low fat dressing and balsamic vinegar, whole grain pasta with fresh sauce, cabbage rolls, but everything in moderation! If you have to have an evening snack grab something fresh and crunchy like an apple, or a piece of celery. It sounds super boring, but it works and diets like repeatitiveness. Keep to something healthy and moderate you will begin to see the difference. Every metabolism is different so give it anywhere from 2 weeks to 10 weeks to see a major impact on your weight. I still hold strong to walking daily at a nice fast and vigorous pace, and at home videos like pilates (where there is sometimes very mild weight training), and do it for at least 30 min daily or three times a week to start. For something fun that you can do in the privacy of your own home, belly dancing really tones and strengthens the stomach muscles and along with the right diet you should notice a difference in that area. I also starting taking cayenne pepper pills and noticed a metabolism boost when having anything spicey. Good luck!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

First off, congrats on the *realistic* goal. The human body can shred 1-2 lbs of fat a week without it to be unhealthy. But you need to start with a plan NOW or you will miss your deadline.
I strongly suggest you to check your body composition and see where you are at (as far as your fat composition is concerned) relatively to your sex, age and activity level.
Then, try to shred as much fat weight as it is healthy to lose (target some place around 18-20% but of course it depends on how you like your body to look).
As far as calories are concerned, you need to:
1. figure out your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and weekly caloric needs;
2. keep your caloric deficit around 20% with BOTH eating smart AND exercising;
3. depending on your body type (ectomorph vs mesomorph vs endomorph) restrict fats, carbs or both, and increase proteins and veggies -- however calorie control is easier when on a low fat diet;
4. drink at least 2 lt (1/2 gallon) water a day and 3 serving of low fat dairy (for example, 1 glass of low fat milk, 1 cup of low fat yogurt, 1 cup low fat cottage cheese) because calcium DOUBLES the rate at which you lose fat;
5. do cardio (walking briskly or jogging or treadmill) at least 30 minutes a day, building it up in 1 week to at least 5 mph
6. weight training:
depending on your body type, either more often with lower weight or less often with heavier weight (if you are an ectomorph). You can do a complete workout 2-3 times a week OR workout everyday targeting fewer muscular groups (1 day abs, 1 day upper body, 1 day lower body) and keep on cycling this way;
7. pilates:
it shapes your body making it look tinier and more elongated (provided you like this look! If you don't like it, increase weight training and eat massive amounts of proteins and you'll get bulkier).
Good luck!

Targetted weight reduction is quite difficult, many would declare impossible, but I worked off 3 inches from my waistline by following the instruction on the web resource in the box below. Give it a try, their help is very down to earth!

Remember to not take pills or go on a starvation diet. A friend of my mom's died from taking pills, because she wanted to lose weight... As I was saying, eat more healthy food, such as fruits and vegetables. Cut back on the sweets. And try a fun activity/routine instead of push-ups, curl-ups, etc. You may want to try dance.

as i said to some others go to www.bodybuilding.com they have everything you need, it is very time consuming to write all that you could do to lose it, but in short, cut out alot of salts and sugars and such, get complex carbs, polyunsaturated fats, proteins and so on in you, work out hard, and drink alot of water
