Should we let the people of cuba vote on U.S. State hood. Cuba wanted to join the Confederacy during the Civil War. they wanted to join the U.S. after the Spanish American War. Russian influenced communism ruined Cubas plan. How would we handle Cuban integration?

Pre-Castro Cuba was a playground for the mafia and rich Americans. Did you know that when Batista was in power, he wasn't allowed in the popular country clubs because he was considered black.When Castro dies,his brother will take over.I know this is so difficult for this country to do,but I think the USA should mind it's own business regarding Cuba.

Cuba is a state, but an independent one, not part of the US - and they have a much better health and education system thanks to that. They'd do even better if their nearest neighbour, unfortunately the most powerful country in the world for now, hadn't had a spiteful economic blockade on for the last 40 years.
By the way, the Spanish-American War ended in ?1901; the Communists kicked out the previous dictatorship in ?1959. So you can't blame Castro's crew for Cuba keeping a semi-independence during all those years.

First you have to get rid of Castro's successor before you even think of asking questions like that. Castro's death doesn't mean the people of Cuba are free again, it just means they will have another new dictator.

Cuba was a plantation before Castro. It will probably go back to that once the US takes over, much like Haiti.

if that's what they want to do then yes. leave it are leaders to handle it and hope they don't screw it up and cause more trouble.
