Hi have been using Zoom whitening on my patients for the past 4 years and have seen good results although the results vary from patient to patient. The Zoom light has been superseded three times and I am now using the Zoom Advanced Whitening Light which I find is much better than the previous two. I have seen colour changes from 6 to 15 shades. Any whitening process dehydrates your teeth which is where the sensitivity starts. Not everyone gets sensitivity but usually if a person does experience sensitivity with Zoom it lasts for around 12 hours. The type of teeth that don't bleach very well are very dense dark yellow teeth or tetracycline stained teeth. Most other types of teeth whiten well. For dehydration I suggest that my patients drink lots of water after the process and I also give them a product called tooth mousse which floods the teeth with calcium and phosphates and helps reduce any sensitivity. I also provide them with take home trays and a tube of bleach for maintainance. I suggest that they use the home trays for one hour once a month to keep the colour maintained.

When the office I work in got the Zoom system about 3 years ago...I had it done. While it is instant, I was very unpleased with it. Perhaps they have worked out the kinks in this system but my whitening was not very even.

With that said...also remember that any whitening system is not permanent. You will still need to retouch your whitening every so often depending on your habits...coffee,cokes, tobacco and so on. Ask your dentist what you need to use to maintain with. You can have trays made in the office and purchase a kit to use at home or you can use something over the counter.

Hopefully someone will respond with better results from Zoom, but myself personally did not have good results nor did several other patients and outside people I know who have used it. The dentist I work for eventually got rid of it about 6 months after getting it. I myself have had better results using my at home bleaching trays.

My mom got this done recently and was in pain. She has sensitive teath and it really put her in some pain afterwards. Although it did whiten them, I definitely wouldn't recommend zoom if you have sensitive teeth.
