I will be studying in Athens and although there is no language prereq i obviously would like to speak a bit of the language. like, how are you? where's the bathroom? etc. also, is it true theres lotsa germans living there? I speak german so that could be cool.

Yia sou (pronounced YAssoo) is both "Hi!" and "Bye"

Bill P is not right with "thanks". That's "evkharistO"

Nai (pronounced with an"a" as in "bad") is yes
Okhi is "no"

"Pou einai i toualeta ("poo [don't laugh!] ina (pronounced with an"a" as in "bad") i tooalEta?" is "where's the toilet?" (if that is what you mean with bathroom, Europeans are not quite so bashful as Americans in that respect...)

When you meet someone for the first time, simply say TIKANIS (means "Hi, how are you")

Kali-sto means "Thank you"

Para-Ka-Lo means "You're welcome"
