you cant put red directly over black you have to use bleaching powder first to get it blonde and THEN use whatever red dye you want over the blonde. I recently had black hair and red streaks and it looked amazing its a really cool look .
make sure you get the deepest red you can find, even if it looks dark in the bottle it never shows up that dark and red is a color that quickly fades out. please email me if you have any more questions im pretty good at this stuff.

You cannot dye red over black if it is dyed. You will have to strip the sections you want streaked and then dye it red. If it is naturaly black then you may be able to tint your hair with the red dye. But it will probably not show well.

You would need to use a high lift red or try a red color you like.
Hair can lift 4 levels without going out of sync.
It's all up to you if you want something different and why.

When a salon does that, they bleach the strand of hair before they put the red in it. It might fry your hair a little, but it would look good!

it'd look fine, but you can't dye black to red... first you need to liughten (bleach) whatever you plan on dying, and then dye. a couple of hours, the first couple times may not work so well, but you get better (you have to reapply bright dyes ..like manic panic... every couple of weeks.. depending on how bright it started, how much you wash your hair and with what temp. water.. etc...) a slightly better bright dye is "fudge" but it's australian, i don't know if it is available in the states.. i have had to grow out of the habit... )

No it would not look bad.Is your hair naturally black if so buy a red dye that is made for naturally dark hair.If you dyed your hair black you will have to bleach it first and then dye red, because color dosn't lift color.

It looks fines but you might have to leave it in longer because the black is dark, it might not even show up...but you might want to ask someone if they think it would look good first, also make sure your positive that you're going for a sorta emo look...not completely emo but sorta emo/Gothic/punk/skater

it'll look cute but you're going to have to bleach the parts you want to dye first
this way the colur will show nicely, the red dye on black won't really show up and if it does it won't be as nice or colurful then if you had done it on bleached hair
good luck

I woldn't do it permanently. They sell temporary color that washes out, I would do that. Just in case you need to go somewhere where red streaks would draw too much attention.

it could look bad but what i suggest is getting it red in the back like at the bottom, like the guy from 30 seconds to mars in the video from yesterday.
