I think you should call the 1-800 and ask them...
I would suspect not, but really - you don't want to base your decision on something you read on the internet from a complete stranger..
I would also suspect that the 1-800 will urge you to talk to someone - either parent or mebbe a friend's parent or a councellor or teacher...
Your cutting is (either conciously or subconciously) a "cry for help" - so heed the call.
good luck.
oh - and read auntb93's post again.
very wise.
sage advice.

They are supposed to be completely confidential, but they may try to persuade you to tell your parents, or to let them tell your parents. It's not a bad idea, in a way. Coming from them, your parents will not only know it is serious, but may get some good advice on what they can do to help you.
Fact is, you don't want to avoid talking to someone who can help you just because they might (only might) say something to someone else. You can speak anonymously on the phone, after all. If you are worried about caller ID and that sort of thing, call from a pay phone.
Don't keep cutting yourself, honey; it will only make you feel all the more foolish later when you start getting over it, and you look at those scars. Stop now, instead.
Believe me, the varieties of self-destructive behavior may not make it obvious, but most of us have felt like that once in awhile, especially when we were teens. Everything is more intense when you are young. With me, it was dangerous drugs. With someone else, perhaps risky unprotected sex or fast cars down mountain roads in the dark of night. With you, cutting. With another, perhaps cigarette burns.
The theme is the same: ambivalence about your continued existence. You don't really want to die, but you don't like the life you are living. So don't end it, CHANGE it!

No, definitely call. It is strictly confidential, they could get themselves in trouble for invading personal privacy if they told anyone you didn't want them to tell. Call the line right away if you need to: lines like that have helped me a lot in the past. The people really help you get through some tough stuff, and my parents never knew about any of it.

No. Absolutely not. The whole idea about suicide or talk lines is that it's all about you. Confidentiality is above all; the simple idea that you had enough "cajones" or "balls" to call in the first place is of the utmost importance, to you and them. If they were to blow your cover, then you might never call again when you feel bad enough to cut. Their function is to be there for you. And they are, so don't ever worry about being ratted out. It's not about that; it's about keeping you safe.

Hon, anyone you talk to there will keep things quiet (unless you or another are in immeadiate danger) by my understanding. I could be wrong.
Not a shrink here by any means, but you do realize that this is wrong.
Find someone to talk with. Someone from church (if you go), another person who understands, someone in your family you look up to.
Stay well! A great many folk are willing to help if you need it.

I'm not quite sure.
i know in a guidance councelor's office
they HAVE to tell your parents
under the law
but i doubt a suicide hotline will tell your parents
they are there for support
not to rat you out
so to speak

i wouldn't think so. they're there to help you. but so are your parents. they love you. sooner or later they will notice the scars. i would tell my parents that I'm really depressed and considering suicide and have them help you. I've had depression problems so I'm not just saying that.

Child? There's much more problems, than asking if they tell your Folks. If you're THAT concerned about them? Think about how they'll feel if you go through with it?
