Is there a sure way to tell?

There's this girl that's very special to me. She graduated last year and I'm a senior this year. I really enjoy being around this person, but I can't bring myself to ask her straight out to go on a real date and actually start dating. I don't want one question ruin what we have now, but I'm at the point where I need to know.

I really can't tell if she's into me in that way or not. We text each other all the time, she's asked me to hang out with her and her other friend, and other little 'possible hints', and the thing is I cant differ them from just friends or actual hints.

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks.

Her friend is a girl.
And I've hung out with her numerous times, the only thing is, is that I'm unsure if she's just shy (like myself), isn't aware of my feelings, or whatever.

first of all ask her if this other friend is a girl or guy, hint #1
then joke around and if it's a girl ask if they want to double date.
if she agrees even though it started out as a joke, then have your friend ask her friend if she likes you, in a subtle way if possible.

If she's texting you to hang out--then do it--that might be a good way to find out if she's into you.
