I have been taking Depakte ER and Webutrin SR for 4 months and I have gained 25 lbs. Has anyone else gained weight on this medication? I am considered overweight for my height. I still feel depressed on this medication.

Many SSRIs state weight gain as a side-effect, it is not unusual. However, if after 4 months of taking the wellbutrin, you are still depressed, please contact your doctor and inform hiim/her. You may do better on a different medication.

I was on Depakote forabout14 years. I gained 60lbs. I also had chronic severe diarrhea, I knew every public bathroom in the area. If I went out to eat, we aways had to stay for a cup of coffee because I usually won't make it home. I have 4 other family members on depakote and all have experience with weight gain and diarhea. My Dr. changed me to Lamictal this summer and not only have I lost 30# with out trying I no longer have diarhea.There are other meds out there so talk to your Dr. It is not unusual to still be depressed because these meds are not like "lightbulbs". They do not suddenly turn on, Talk to your dr. as Wellbutrin may not be the drug for you, I take wellbutrin and paxil with good results.

I was on depekote for many years and gained alot of weight on it. If you don't like that ask your doctor about Topamax as that makes you lose weight. I've been on it for years and my weight was 179 and when I started topamax it dropped to 125. they have many good seizure medications today as I tried all of them. Depakote does make you feel depressed. I'm on tegretol and topamax and I've been doing good. Ask your doctor about the 2 medications I listed.

Yes and get off of it. I gained like 40lbs and lost it when I went off it.
