I was in this same situation 4-5 years ago. Eat a healthy cereal or oatmeal (sugar free) for breakfast. You can eat what you want for lunch, but cut the portion size in half. Eat a salad with chicken, fish, or a small piece of steak. You really don't have to work out, walking and crunches was about the only thing I did. Let's just say I did weigh 165, and now I weigh 125! It took awhile, but think about how long it took to gain that weight!

Yes. She can walk. She needs to start off slow. Give up bread and sweets at first. It takes 21 days to change dietary habits. So don't go crazy. Do what is doable. Drink lots of water. Bottled is easier to drink then tap water. You eliminate fat from the body when you pee a lot. Drink hot tea after a meal. I think that helps with digestion. Don't drink diet soda's. They make you crave sugar.
Walk. Turn the TV off. Take the trash out. Be active. Dance in your room to your favorite music. If you feel hungry drink some water first. Sometimes when we are really thirsty we think we are hungry. So always drink water 20 minutes prior to eating. Change your habits. Yoga stretching is good. This will get you ready for more walking. Or even athletic stuff.
The important thing is to take it slow and don't weigh yourself very week. Just change your habits and stop eating and drinking certain things for 21 days and then see how you feel. Your clothes will tell you if you have lost weight.
Remember a watched pot never boils, as the saying goes. So just stay on course. Brush your teeth all the time so you don't feel like you need to eat something because your mouth has a bad taste in it.
IF you slip up don't give up! Just go right back to your plan and try harder to stay on it. Good luck

Eat right, and EXERCISE! But don't eat too little, and don't exercise too much :p. They should become involved in a sport they enjoy or get a group of friends together that they will feel comfortable working out with. Be sure to have fun! Don't make exercise a chore, that won't help the loosing weight process. And also, make sure your friend isn't loosing too much weight. In today's world, it's sometimes hard to realize when people are a healthy weight anymore. Best of luck.

Tell her to take things slow. Using pills or going on a starvation diet is not recommended, at all. She should cut back on sweets and eat more healthy food, such as fruits and vegetables. Instead of doing push-ups, curl-ups, or such, she should try an activity that is fun, like cheerleading or dance.
