My 11 month old does not crawl in the conventional sense, but scoots around on her bottom. Now, no matter if she is wearing shorts or long pants, is on the carpet or linoleum, she gets a red burn on each leg. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to prevent or at least soothe this?

Aquaphor is a great product. It is similar to Vaseline, but more dense and stays on longer. My children used to get burns on their knees from crawling and i made knee pads out of tube socks. I just cut the top portion off and put it on thier little knees. So you might try something that doesn't move but stays put on her body, maybe bandaids or even tights (pantyhose). There won't be any friction that way, b/c the tights are moving with her body, not against it when she scoots. Make sure to keep something on her rash though, like aquaphor or vaseline at all times though. Bless her heart, I hope she finds relief soon!

Help her learn to crawl on hands and knees. It will only take a few days if she watches you do it any time you are down on the floor playing with her.You may have to help her into the position at first. I used to work in a daycare and I did this with all the babies in the Nursery. I have six kids of my own. Soon after she will start to stand and then take steps. Meanwhile, soothe the chafed areas with patroleum jelly.

well you can get her a miniature sled for her to slide around on. You can also take some lotion in a small cup then put it in the microwave for a few seconds to heat it up then rub it on. that would soothe it

No ideas for prevention, but you can put on aloe vera to help soothe it.

I would try corn starch or a thin layer of Vaseline. You may try something that is also good for diaper rash.

Vaseline will probably help.
