Peyote has been used by the native Americans for thousands of years to get in touch with the "spirits".
People don't understand that this is actually a wide-spread phenomenon...People who convert to Buddhism or Krishna or Hinduism.....But also sometimes Christianity..
It is not like a 'pot' smoker or a heroin addict...
Many people only trip once or a few times and that is it for the rest of their lives.
You can't get addicted to acid or peyote.
I'm wondering if any of you have a first hand experience or know someone who had such an experience.....

You idiot: no one ever died by an "overdose" of acid.
Jimmi Hendrix had a mix of pills, coke, heroin and booze in his system and died by choking on his vomit (from the alcohol)
Jim Morrison died of HEART FAILURE FROM LONG TERM ABUSE OF
ALCOHOL
ALCOHOL
ALCOHOL
idiot.

Holy crap morgan: they said you were the DEVIL???sheesh...I've tripped with people who weren't tripping and was strait while others were tripping and NOTHING aggressive ever happened like that.. It was always peaceful and enlightening and deep talking, those who were on it and those who weren't.
So either your friends suck, or you really are kind of 'evil' lol...

On acid yes, well I wouldn't call it *religious* but more spiritual. On peyote no, because I haven't tried it yet.

Wow there are a lot of ignorant people answering your question, but that is okay not all people are on the same spiritual path or level of consciousness...
I have done more acid than I am proud to say I have (but do I regret it NO WAY it has helped open me up to new experiences). I never did peyote, had the chance just never did it. Sometimes I wish I had. There are a couple of things that should be addressed to someone looking for a spiritual tool in drugs. You sometimes cannot control reality and the doors you open might not reveal themselves until you have let things into this world (first hand experience). Some people cannot handle drugs as tools or as anything for that matter. Acid needs to be in a pure form not cut with anything (which is very common). You also have to realize that sometimes you create the things around you because you want them there not because they are there.
I would not touch LSD now but I can't say it didn't open my awareness or influence who and what I am today.
As for those that are quick to judge, no I don't have flashbacks, nor any side effects from my drug use, and yes, I know I am one of the few that can say that. I have lost people to drugs. I cannot say its right to do, but I can't say its wrong either, having done it myself. Would I recommend it, No, simply because people don't understand a lot of the things they are doing. Oh and there is some excellent reading about the subject and the governmental testing is mind blowing as well as the true reasons the government says its bad...
Have a GREAT day!

The problem is that when people do this they don't realize that the "spirits" that are being contacted are the Demons.
It is like a pot smoker or heroin addict. It is Spiritism.
When you dump your mind for the affects of drugs you open it up for demonic activity. Period.
The Peyote Religion
The Peyote religion is found in many different Indian tribes today. It was Quanah Parker (about 1845-1911), a spiritual leader and chief of the Comanche Kwahadi division, who “was influential in the development and diffusion of the peyote religion in Indian Territory.” (The Encyclopedia of Native American Religions) By enthusiastically proclaiming the hallucinogenic virtues and supposed medicinal powers of the peyote cactus, he gained converts to Peyotism from many North American Indian tribes. Thus, among the Kickapoo, as in other tribes, the traditional religion and Peyotism existed side by side.
What Is the Peyote Religion?
The Peyote religion has now come to be known as the Native American Church. Peyote is a small spineless cactus (see right) found principally in the Rio Grande valley in Mexico and also in Texas. The Peyote religion has over 200,000 members in the North American tribes. “Originating in prehistoric Mexico, Peyotism today incorporates elements of Christianity while remaining a pan-Indian affair.” (A Native American Encyclopedia—History, Culture, and Peoples) The two primary ceremonies in the Peyote religion are the Half-Moon and the Big Moon. Both incorporate “aspects of Indian culture and Christianity.” The peyote ceremony is an all-night ceremony, usually begun on a Saturday, wherein a group of men sit in a circle in a tepee. They experience hallucinations while eating quantities of bitter-tasting buds or nodules of the peyote cactus and chanting sacred songs to the beating of a drum and the rhythmic rattle of a gourd.
Gal. 5:19-21: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are . . . practice of spiritism, . . . revelries, and things like these. . . . Those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.” (The literal meaning of the Greek word phar·ma·ki′a, here rendered “practice of spiritism,” is “druggery.” An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, by W. E. Vine, in commenting on this Greek word, says: “In sorcery, the use of drugs, whether simple or potent, was generally accompanied by incantations and appeals to occult powers, with the provision of various charms, amulets, etc., professedly designed to keep the applicant or patient from the attention and power of demons, but actually to impress the applicant with the mysterious resources and powers of the sorcerer.” [London, 1940, Vol. IV, pp. 51, 52] Similarly today, many who use drugs are involved in spiritistic practices or associate with those who are, because a blank mind or one that experiences hallucinations is easy prey to the demons. Compare Luke 11:24-26.)

A friend of mine actually used shrooms in order to achieve Out of body experiences. I had considered it at one time, but on three separate occasions people tripping on acid said i was the devil and attempted to attack me. After their experiences I figured these drugs were not for me. It would not be my idea of a good trip to look in the mirror and see the devil. Later, however, my friend explained that they may have felt that way because in each case I was the only person in the group not tripping. To this day, however, I refuse to take that chance.

I've tripped on peyote - had a profound intellectual experience. Figured out all kinds of things about the nature and structure of the universe, then forgot it all after I came down. Bummer.

I've never done any of that, and I never intend to. A man named Keith Green who was an awesome song writer in like...I guess the 70's, was big on that kind of stuff before he was saved. He thought he was experiencing these religious experiences. But then he was saved. You should read his book: "No Compromise" It's slow at times, but the story's cool. And then you'd know where I'm coming from. Not that I agree with every bit of his theology. But I'm talking too much...

I used peyote once as a (semi) right of passage. Afterward, I had a very spiritual experience--one that placed me on the path I "walk" today.
Please note, however, that I perceive spirituality to be quite different from religion. Religion is man-made. Spirituality is the basic message taught by most religions.

i do know what you are talking about. i have been poisoned against my will for a couple of generations now, possibly since i was 5 years old.
i dont know about peyote, but i do know that when i was thirteen i had a friend that already knew about it before i ever knew it existed.
But remember the Body and MIND produce Dmt naturally.
those that synthesize Dmt will use it with wickedness and unrighteousness in a planned deception and for decietfull conspiracy.
God will use his creation of these things to Communicate in dreams but! it is up to God to Give, not to man to use in evil practices.

Yes, if you go into the experience with the mindset that you wish the experience to be spiritual chances are it will be in one way or another. Its very much about your mindset
